Welcome
The 500 Car Club of Tasmania offers a wide variety of motor sport pursuits for its members. Rallies, autocrosses, and rallysprints at all levels are conducted throughout the year. At Championship level, we conduct two rounds of the Tasmanian Rally Series, when everyone gets involved. At “clubman” level we conduct the Club Rally Series comprising rallies, rallysprints and trials. Further to these, fun events are also conducted that do not form part of any series but exist purely for lighthearted entertainment.
All events are run under the auspices of the controlling body the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport. If you intend to compete in events, then you will need a C.A.M.S. Level 2 Licence, which can be purchased through our Membership Officer, or from the CAMS office.
The 500 Car Club meets on the third Wednesday of every month at the Lenah Valley RSL, in Augusta Road, starting around 7.30pm. Some motor sport videos are often shown as members gather to discuss past and future happenings. Club nights are informal gatherings and the perfect way to meet other members.
Other social events are conducted during the year, like the Annual Dinner, cryptic trials, economy runs, trivia nights and various parties and presentation nights, just to name a few.
Membership runs for the full calendar year and falls due on the 1st of January each year, but new members can initially join part way through the year for a reduced rate. There are three classes of membership: Full, Family and Associate. Full membership allows you to vote at our Annual General Meeting and purchase a CAMS Level 2 Licence. Family membership entitles members to the same rights as Full members but is restricted to 2 Family members who reside at the same address. Associate membership is for those members who do not wish to compete in any events or play a part in the running of the Club.
The Club publishes a monthly newsletter, which is posted or emailed to all members. It includes a calendar of events, names of members on the Committee, new member assistance information, member benefits, various reports and general gossip from within Club circles.
Lastly, if you have any queries at all, then please do not hesitate to contact me, or any other member of the Committee, as we are only to willing to help you. Committee members can also be found at club nights – please feel free to approach us about anything at all.
I trust this information is of use to you and hope you will choose to become a member of one of Tassmania’s best car clubs – the 500 Car Club of Tasmania.
